Softball Splits A-10 Double At George Mason Saturday

UD and GM to Close Out Series Sunday with Single Game at 12 p.m.

FAIRFAX, Va. - The University of Dayton softball team won its weekend opener at George Mason, 2-0, before faltering, 4-3, to the Patriots in game two. Senior Izzy Kemp recorded a 13-strikeout, complete-game shutout win to open the series.

Dayton is now 14-12 on the season and 5-6 in Atlantic 10 action while George Mason moves to 15-16 overall and 4-7 in league games.

GAME ONE
Dayton 2, George Mason 0
13 - Kemp fanned a total of 13 batters, her eighth double-digit K game of the season
2 - freshman Maura Carmody went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one of two Flyers with a multi-hit game 
Win - Kemp (8-3). Loss - Abbey Lane (7-5). Save - None.

GAME TWO
George Mason 4, Dayton 3
5 - graduate student Kate Kastelic collected a season-high five strikeouts
3 - sophomore Ella Holman was a perfect 3-for-3, her first three-hit game of the season
2 - sophomore Juliana Gonzalez went 2-for-3 with two RBI at the plate
Win - Bri Lencz (3-2). Loss - Camryn Craig (0-2). Save - Abbey Lane (1).

UP NEXT
The Flyers and Patriots will close out a three-game series Sunday with a 12 o'clock start. Dayton continues its nine-game road stretch with two midweek games next week. On Tuesday, Dayton will be at Ohio State for a single game at 2 p.m. followed by another single game matchup at Providence on Thursday at 2 p.m. The Flyers will then play a three-game conference set at against the Rams of Rhode Island April 3-4 in Kingston.
