DAYTON, Ohio –
No. 18 University of Dayton volleyball defeated Charlotte in straight sets on Saturday evening at UD Arena to remain undefeated in Atlantic 10 Conference play and win its 13th consecutive match (25-14, 26-24, 25-18).

Senior Lindsay Fletemier recorded 12 kills on 17 swings for a match-high .529 hitting percentage. With a block in the final point of the match the Garden City, Mich., native extended her streak of at least one block in 69 consecutive matches played. Sophomore outside hitter Rachel Krabacher paced the match with 13 kills and two aces for a total of 17 points.

For the ninth time this season UD held its opponent to a hitting percentage under .100, out-hitting the 49ers .248-to-.077. The Flyers, which lead the A-10 in opponent hitting percentage, held Charlotte to .000 percent marks in the first and third sets.

Krabacher and senior outside hitter Amanda Cowdrey combined for eight of the Flyers’ 14 kills in the first set as UD opened with a 25-14 victory. The set was ended on a 6-1 Dayton run. UD has captured each first set during its current 13-match winning streak.

With a sizable deficit in the second set, Charlotte tested Dayton’s resilience by forcing extra points. Down 18-13, the 49ers came back to tie the set at 24 before a Fletemier kill and blocks from Becky Novacek and Yvonne Marten ensured UD’s 26-24 victory.

Starting the final set back-and-forth with seven ties and three lead changes, Dayton broke away from a 13-13 tie with an 8-2 run. Krabacher recorded six kills and Fletemier converted three kills on four swings as UD won the third set 25-18.

Dayton (18-3, 9-0 A-10), playing in the first match of the season at UD Arena, extended its home court winning streak to 21 matches.

Charlotte (12-12, 3-6) matched Dayton’s 10 team blocks on the night – the most blocks against the Flyers since No. 7 Nebraska put up 13 on Sept. 9.

Volleyball will return to UD Arena on Dec. 11 and 12 as the University of Dayton will host the 2010 NCAA Championship Regional.

The Flyers face rival Xavier next Friday at the Frericks Center beginning at 7 p.m. ET. On Sunday, UD travels to Washington, D.C., to play George Washington for the second time in four matches beginning at 1 p.m. ET.
