VOLLEYBALL FALLS TO NO. 15 UC SANTA BARBARA AT AQUAFINAL CLASSIC

GAINESVILLE, FLA -  The UD volleyball team took on its second top 15 team of the day Friday at the Aquafina Volleyball Invitational in Gainesville, FL, falling 3-0 to No. 15 UC Santa Barbara. Robynne Green led UD (2-3) with nine kills

UCSB handed the Flyers a 30-17 loss in game one, and then hit .531 in a 30-15 game two win. In game three, the Flyers rebounded by holding UCSB to a .150 hitting percentage, but fell 30-28. while Green (Palatine, IL) led with nine kills, teammate Amanda Kenny (Oak Lawn, IL) was right behind with right. Nicole Schott (Roscoe, IL) added 16 assists. Angela Rueve (Cincinnati, OH) led the Flyers with seven defensive digs. Faye Barhorst (Ft. Loramie, OH) had three blocks.

Janine Sandell led UCSB with 21 kills against two errors for a .487 hitting percentage. Emily Hendrickson added 13 kills as UCSB runs its record to 2-0 on the season.

Earlier in the day, the Flyers fell to No. 8 Florida.

Dayton meets Missouri State at 1:00 p.m. in their final match at the Aquafina Volleyball Classic. The Flyers will travel to Bowling Green on Tuesday before returning to the Frericks Center to host the Dayton Marriott Flyer Invitational September 9-10.
