Biography:

University of Dayton Track and Field Head Coach Jason Francis announced the hiring of Bryan Duby as Assistant Track and Field Coach on October 5, 2011. Duby oversees the Flyer throwers.

“I am very excited to add Bryan to our coaching staff. Bryan has had a lot of success in his coaching career thus far and I look for him to continue that success here at the University of Dayton,” Francis said. “I am confident that he will do great things with the talented women we have on our roster and he will continue to build on the great tradition and success that our throwers have earned over the years. Bryan's extensive career as a collegiate and post-collegiate athlete will be a great asset to our throwers and to our track program.”

Most recently, Duby was the Assistant Track and Field / Cross Country Coach for Morehead State University. At Morehead he helped guide his throwers to 13 Top 8 finishes at the Ohio Valley Conference in just two seasons, including a second-place finish in the shot put in 2011 (Miranda Nelson), and a third-place finish in the shot put in 2010 (JT Stone). Additionally, three of his throwers set school records during his tenure.

Duby was a three-year letter winner and a co-captain at Ohio State. He was a two-time NCAA national qualifier for the hammer and weight throw, and a three-time NCAA regional qualifier in those events. In 2005, he captured the Big Ten Championship in the weight throw garnering him First Team All-Big Ten accolades. Duby finished his career with the Buckeyes ranked second all-time in the school’s hammer and weight throw record books.

After his collegiate career he captured the weight throw title in the 99th Millrose Games. He also qualified and placed 12th at the USA Indoor Track and Field Championships in 2006. Duby has served as the assistant track coach for the Loyola Academy College Preparatory School. He was also an intern for DePaul University, working in compliance, and also spent time at Ohio State as a development intern for the athletics department.

Duby earned undergraduate degrees in both Criminal Justice and Sociology from Ohio State in 2005. He is expected to complete his Master’s degree this winter from Morehead State University in Sports Management. He holds Level 2 certifications from the USTFCCCA in throws and jumps.
