SOUTH BEND, Ind. – University of Dayton track and field distance runner Elissa Mason set a new personal record in the 5,000 meter run, finishing in 16:56.74 at the Alex Wilson Invitational on Friday.
The mark shatters her previous best by nearly nine seconds. Her time also ranks second in University of Dayton track and field history.
“Elissa ran a tough race tonight,” University of Dayton Head Track and Field Coach Jason Francis said. “We are very excited for her this outdoor season.”
Senior pole vaulter Courtney Siebenaller will compete on Saturday in the Alex Wilson Invite. The tournament is an NCAA sanctioned Last Chance Qualifier for the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships.
