DAYTON PERFORMS WELL IN FINAL MEET BEFORE A-10 INDOOR CHAMPIONSHIPS

Final Results

AKRON, Ohio
– The University of Dayton women’s track and field team had more than 10 personal records set, including a number of top five performances at the Akron Invitational on Saturday at the Stiles Field House in Akron, Ohio.

“It was a great tune-up for the Atlantic 10 Indoor Track and Field Championships,” University of Dayton track and field head coach Jason Francis said. “Everyone competed well and had a number of PR’s. It was also nice to get a couple of our athletes back. We are ready to get after it at the A-10’s next week.”

Sophomore Nicole Cargill improved her personal record in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:15.88. Her second place finish on Saturday is the second fastest time in UD Track & Field History. Sophomore Lizzie Gleason finished third and posted the third-best time in UD history with a time of 2:16.27.

Sophomore Maddi Schmidt jumped her way to second all-time in UD history in the triple jump. Schmidt had a length of 11.35m (37-03.00), placing fourth in the Akron Invitational.

Sophomore pole vaulter Hanna Krizmanic launched herself past teammate Katrina Steinhauser for third all-time on the pole vault list. Krizmanic reached 3.72m (12-02.50) on Saturday. Senior Courtney Siebenaller returned to action and placed third in the gold division’s pole vault. Siebenaller had a mark of 3.87m (12-08.25).

Freshman Rabecca Maj moved to third all-time on the 60 meter hurdle list. Maj posted a time of 9.05, which is the second fastest time at UD this year.

Senior Elissa Mason improved to fourth all-time on UD’s one mile run list. Mason clocked in at 4:57.51 on Saturday.

Sophomore Aly Weeman bettered her previous personal record in the weight throw with a distance of 17.19m (56-04.00), which remains fifth all-time on the weight throw list. Weeman placed second overall in the weight throw.

Grandstaff placed third in the 200 meter dash blue division, while setting a new personal record with a time of 25.63.

Freshman Ellie Grandi finished second in the high jump (gold division). Grandi had a mark of 1.65m (5-05.00). Juliana Lawniczak finished third (blue division) with a mark of 1.58m (5-02.25).

Sophomore Christine Borchers placed third in the shot put with a throw of 13.18m (43-03.00).

The distance medley relay was scratched on Friday because the event did not have enough teams participating.

The Flyers head to Kingston, R.I. next weekend to defend their two-year reign as Atlantic 10 Indoor Track and Field Champions. Events kick off on Feb. 17 at Mackal Field House.




60 Meter Dash (Gold)

Sophomore Cassie Grandstaff finished with a time of 8.04.

200 Meter Dash (Blue)
Grandstaff placed third, while setting a new personal record with a time of 25.63. Senior Rachel Weber finished 12th with a time of 26.01.

400 Meter Dash (Blue)
Freshman Maya Pedersen set a new personal record with a fifth-place time of 58.48. Sophomore Kassy Thomas had a time of 59.89 and freshman Julie Kolodziej had a time of 1:03.29.

800 Meter Run (Blue)

Sophomore Nicole Cargill set a new personal record in the 800 meters with a time of 2:15.88. Her second place finish is also second all-time on the 800 meter list. Sophomore Lizzie Gleason placed third with a time of 2:16.27, her time is third on the 800 meter list. Senior Kelly Johnston set a new personal record with a time of 2:17.24 to finish fourth. Freshman Lauren Clark finished 10th with a time of 2:20.59, while freshman Chelsy VanHook pr’ed with a time of 2:22.87.

One Mile Run (Gold)
Senior Elissa Mason finished fourth with a time of 4:57.51. That time is a new personal record, and is fourth all-time at UD. Senior Lindsey Cummings finished seventh with a time of 5:04.54.

One Mile Run (Blue)

Freshman Katie Ollier finished fifth with a time of 5:14.13 for a new personal record. Junior Marisa Slomski finished ninth with a time of 5:19.62. Freshman Nicole Armstrong was  10th after a personal record time of 5:21.31.

3000 Meter Run (Gold)
Sophomore Sarah Reynolds set a new personal record with a time of 10:27.06.

3000 Meter Run (Blue)
Freshman Mary List finished third with a time of 10:40.39. Freshman Megan Collins turned in a time of 11:07.78.

60 Meter Hurdles Prelims (Gold)
Freshman Rabecca Maj turned in a personal record time of 9.05 in the 60 meter hurdles. Her time is also third-best in UD track history. Hilary Lang set a new personal record with a time of 9.61. Senior Erin Baldinger checked in at 9.75. Freshman Katy Garcia finished in 9.89 and freshman Ashley DeMange finished in 10.03.

High Jump (Gold)
Freshman Ellie Grandi tied for second in the high jump with a mark of 1.65m (5-05.00).

High Jump (Blue)

Juliana Lawniczak finished third with a mark of 1.58m (5-02.25). Freshman Katy Garcia was eighth with the same height.

Pole Vault (Gold)
Senior Courtney Siebenaller returned to action and placed third in the gold division’s pole vault. Siebenaller had a mark of 3.87m (12-08.25). Sophomore Hanna Krizmanic was seventh with a mark of 3.72m (12-02.50). Sophomore Katrina Steinhauser had a mark of 3.57m (11-08.50).

Pole Vault (Blue)
Sophomore Sarah Gaskell finished fifth with a mark of 3.37 (11-00.75). Freshman Ashley DeMange had a height of 3.22m (10-06.750.

Long Jump (Blue)
Sophomore Hilary Lang finished sixth with a jump of 5.31m (17-05.25). Senior Erin Baldinger had a length of 5.01m (16-05.25). Sophomore Jocelyn Abron jumped 5.00m (16-05.00) setting a new personal record. Sophomore Maddi Schmidt had a length of 4.89m (16-00.50).

Triple Jump (Gold)
Sophomore Maddi Schmidt jumped her way to second all-time in UD history in the triple jump. Schmidt had a length of 11.35m (37-03.00), placing fourth in the Akron Invitational.

Shot Put (Blue)

Sophomore Christine Borchers placed third in the shot put with a throw of 13.18m (43-03.00). Freshman Miranda Nelson finished seventh with a throw of 12.72m (41-08.75).

Weight Throw (Blue)
