Final Results
CINCINNATI - The University of Dayton track and field team tied for fourth with 81 points at the Oliver Nikoloff Invitational hosted by the University of Cincinnati.
"It was a pretty good weekend for us. The weather didn't hold out as well as we hoped, but we were still able to put together a solid meet," said University of Dayton head coach Jason Francis.
The Flyers were led by first place finished from Elissa Mason in the 5,000 meters and Maddi Schmidt in the triple jump (37-04.00).
"Elissa did a great job winning the 5K and going wire-to-wire to lead from the start of the event until the finish," said Francis
Another top scorer was Noelle Tazioli who had a career day placing fifth (12.30) in the 100 meters and second in the 200 meters.
"Noelle pr'ed in both the 100 and ran in 24.71 in the 200," said Francis. "It was good for her to step up and have a couple of breakthrough performances."
Lindsey Cummings placed second in the 3,000 meter steeplechase (10:53.29) setting a new program record in the event.
Schmidt led a field event squad that also included points from the pole vault and the high jump. In the vault Katrina Steinhauser placed second with a jump of 11-09.75m. In the high jump freshman Ellie Grandi took third place with a height of 5-04.25.
100 Dash
Noelle Tazioli set a new best running 12.30 finishing in fifth place.
200 Dash
Noelle Tazioli placed second running a personal best time of 24.71. Rachel Weber placed sixth with a time of 25.17. Maya Pedersen placed 16th in a time of 26.09.
400 Dash
Kassy Thomas led UD placing sixth with a time of 57.88. Mariah Curtis ran 59.66 finishing in 13th.
800 Run
A trio of Flyers finished close together as Kelly Johnston (2:18.74), Lauren Clark (2:19.41) and Nicole Cargill (2:19.91) placed 10th, 11th and 13th respectively.
1,500 Run
Lizzie Gleason was the top Flyer placing 15th in a time of 4:45.11.
3,000 Steeplechase
Lindsey Cummings placed second in the steeplechase with a time of 10:53.29 scoring eight points.
5,000 Run
Elissa Mason captured the title with a time of 17:04.97. She was a full 14 seconds faster than the second place finisher. Katie Ollier (17:44.71), Colleen Grassley (17:46.44) and Marisa Slomski (17:53.06) also placed in the top ten finishing sixth, seventh and tenth.
100 Hurdles
Rebecca Maj was the top Flyer placing sixth with a time of 14.79. Maddi Schmidt placed tenth with a time of 14.98.
4x100
The Dayton relay of Maya Pedersen, Rachel Weber, Noelle Tazioli and Ashley DeMange placed third in a time of 47.67.
High Jump
Ellie Grandi was the top performer for UD placing third with a jump of 5-04.25 (1.63m). Juliana Lawniczak placed seventh with a height of 5-02.25 (1.58m).
Pole Vault
Katrina Steinhauser took second place with a height of 11-09.75 (3.60m). Hanna Krizmanic and Ashley DeMange tied for ninth with a height of 11-03.75 (3.45m)
Long Jump
Jocelyn Abron was the only Flyer with a time of 15-05.00 (4.70m).
Triple Jump
Maddi Schmidt placed first with a jump of 37-04.00 (11.38m).
Shot Put
Christine Borchers led UD with a ninth place throw of 42-11.75 (13.10m).
Discus
Borchers placed 12th with a toss of 137-05 (41.88m). Renee Otte finished in 14th with a toss of 136-10 (41.71m).
Hammer Throw
Aly Weeman placed eighth with a toss of 157-10 (48.12m). Renee Otte placed tenth with a throw of 156-09 (47.77m).
