POHLMAN LEADS TRACK AND FIELD

Indianapolis, IN - The University of Dayton track and field team won five medals Saturday at the no team scoring Stan Lyons Invitational in Indianapolis, IN. Junior Kelly Pohlman (Versailles, OH) led the way as she won two gold medals and one silver medal during the meet, breaking two personal records along the way.

Pohlman won gold in the shot put with a mark of 46-11, surpassing her previous best of 46-04.25 which she set last week. She set a new personal best in the hammer throw with a mark of 150-05, winning her the gold medal in this event as well. In the discus throw, Pohlman finished with a throw of 139-08, placing her in second.

Junior Sarah Kessler (Reynoldsburg, OH) won a bronze medal for the Flyers in the 1500m run with a time of 4:49.65. She also broke her seasonal best in the 800m run with a time of 2:20.21, ending up in sixth place.

Sophomore Tara Hentgen (Frederick, MD) won a bronze medal in the triple jump as she set a new personal best with a distance of 34-11.25.

Freshman Connie Fleming (Valrico, FL) finished in fourth place in the discus throw with a distance of 122-11. In the shot put, she set a new personal best with a throw of 35-11.50 which put her in sixth place. In the hammer throw, Fleming finished in ninth place with a mark of 114-06.

In the 100m dash, senior Aftan Delaney (Bellbrook, OH) set a new seasonal best with a time of 12.43 while finishing in fifth place. She also competed in the 200m dash, where she finished in sixth place with a time of 25.58.

The Flyers next meet will be held in Richmond, VA, Saturday where they will compete in the Atlantic 10 Championship.
