Dayton Flyers

The University of Dayton women’s tennis team went 2-1 over the weekend. The Flyers defeated Ohio Northern, 7-0, Oberlin, 6-1, and fell to rival Saint Louis in a 5-1 battle.

Loni Dickerhoof went 3-0 at number two in singles, 1-0 at number one in singles, and undefeated in doubles with partner, Laina Grote. Coach Mahone commented on Dickerhoof’s phenomenal play saying, “This is, by far, the best I have ever seen Loni play. In two years, she has come such a long way, and has raised her game to a really high level.” Dickerhoof will be graduating this year after being accepted into OSU’s Optometry School.

Claire Dreyer and Claire McNulty lost very close matches at SLU. Hailee Elmore defeated Dreyer at number one in singles, 6-4, 6-4, while McNulty fell to Mia Elmore, 7-6, 2-6, 6-2. “They have made significant improvements to their game and continue to get better and better,” Coach Mahone said of the two freshmen.

The Flyers are currently 5-7 this season.

 UD will host Temple, Friday, March 18 at 4 p.m. Saturday they will travel to meet Michigan State at 1 p.m. To end the weekend, the Flyers will play at Toledo Sunday morning at 10 a.m.
