FLYERS REGROUP WITH 7-0 WIN IN FORT WAYNE ON SUNDAY

Fort Wayne, IN - The Dayton Flyers overcame Saturday morning's 0-7 loss to Ball State by sweeping IPFW in Fort Wayne on Sunday. Dayton is now 2-0 this spring in matches played following a loss, as sophomore Allysa Detroy and freshman Nicole Dzubay each recorded their first singles win of the season.

Detroy, now 1-3 as Dayton's #1 singles player, was victorious in straight sets against Ashley Coulson. Detroy took the first set easily at 6-2 before pulling out the match in a second set tie-breaker, 7-6(5). Junior Kate Mellion defeated Sachi Janek at #2 singles, 6-4, 6-2. Dzubay was able to fight off Lisa Bartelheim at #3 in straight sets as well. Sophomore Megan Gray and freshman Andrea Muresan each saw their matches go the full three sets at #4 and #5 singles, respectively. Gray came from behind after dropping the first set 4-6 by winning the next two 6-2, 11-9. Muresan defeated Beth Miller 7-5, 4-6, 10-3. Freshman Carrie Trigilio completed the singles sweep at #6 by taking care of Rachel Surowiec 6-2, 6-0.

The Flyers entered the doubles matches with an 0-9 record this season in doubles competition. However, each of the three UD pairings were victorious by a score of 8-2.

Dayton takes its 2-2 record into Pittsburgh on Friday to take on Duquesne at 4:00 PM.
