GAME NOTES

DAYTON, Ohio  - The University of Dayton softball team (14-22, 2-6 A-10) hosts a pair of Atlantic 10 foes this weekend when the Temple Owls and Saint Joseph’s Hawks visit UD Softball Stadium. Temple and Dayton will play a single game on Friday at 3 p.m. The two teams then play a second game on Saturday at Noon. The Flyers wrap up the weekend with a doubleheader on Sunday against Saint Joseph’s beginning at 11 a.m.

The Flyers are led by freshman Natalie Mariano who is hitting .341 and has a four-game hitting streak. The team is also led by the bats of junior Kathleen Maloof and senior Brandy Brown. Maloof leads the Flyers in home runs (7) and runs scored (21) while hitting .314. Brown is swinging a hot bat as she leads the team in RBI (14), hits (34) and is second on the squad with a .327 batting average.

Freshman Kayla English boasts a 2.62 ERA with 85 strikeouts in 82.2 innings pitched to lead the Flyer pitching staff. Sophomore Alysha Isaacson is second on the team with a 4.55 ERA; she has 33 strikeouts.

Temple enters the weekend 17-16 overall and 5-3 in A-10, but has lost four of its last six games. The Owls are led by Sarah Prezioso and Stephanie Pasquale. Prezioso is hitting .343 with three triples and leads the team with 21 RBI. Pasquale is second on the team in RBI (18). Brooklin White leads Temple pitchers with a 3.28 ERA.

Saint Joseph’s has a 15-19 record with a 5-3 record in Atlantic 10 action. The Hawks are led by Bernadette Moran and Lauren Rendon. Moran is batting .333 with 17 RBI. Rendon is hitting .290 and leads the squad in home runs (6) and RBI (23).

The Hawks have a strong pitching staff and are led by Taryn Ashway and Erin Gallagher. Ashway tops the A-10 with a 1.70 ERA and Gallagher is third with a 1.99 ERA.
