OXFORD, Ohio – The University of Dayton softball team (9-12) lost to the Miami RedHawks (15-9) 8-0 in six innings on Sunday.
Freshman Kayla English (2-3) was dealt the loss against Miami. English pitched 4.2 innings and allowed four earned runs, while striking out four. Senior Sarah Wedel pitched 0.2 innings of relief allowing three earned runs and junior Sydney Cicchetti pitched 0.1 innings of relief.
Miami’s Jessica Simpson (9-8) pitched a complete game, striking out 10 and did not allow a hit.
Dayton opens its home schedule on Tuesday at UD Softball Stadium against Detroit. First pitch for the doubleheader is slated for 2 p.m.
