FIVE FLYERS SCORE IN 5-0 WIN OVER UMASS

DAYTON, Ohio –
Five different Flyers scored to lead the University of Dayton women’s soccer team to a 5-0 victory over Massachusetts in UD’s last regular season home game of 2010 at Baujan Field Sunday afternoon.

Dayton, ranked No. 27 in the latest NCAA RPI, improves to 12-2-0 overall and 4-0-0 in Atlantic 10 play.

Freshman Juliana Libertin scored her first collegiate goal to give the Flyers a 1-0 advantage in the 10th minute of the match. Senior Alli Giner had the assist on the game-winning goal.

Freshman Stephanie Emery got in on the action too, scoring her first collegiate goal in the 34th minute to give Dayton a 2-0 lead. Sophomore Alexis Garcia and freshman Maggie Murnane had the assist on the goal.

Sophomore Colleen Williams scored her 12th goal of the season late in the half on a free kick from junior Emily Kenyon to give UD a comfortable 3-0 lead at the half. Williams has notched a point in nine consecutive games now for the Flyers. She leads the A-10 in goals scored (12) and total points (30).

Giner put the Flyers ahead 4-0 in the 68th minute, beating the keeper one-v-one after assists from freshman Andrea Todak and senior Jerica DeWolfe.

Sophomore Maggie Hinkle added the finishing touches with her first collegiate goal in the 83rd minute for the final tally. She hit a swooping shot over the keeper from about 20 yards out.

Senior Lisa Rodgers had five saves in goal to post her seventh shutout of the season, and she improves to a perfect 9-0-0 this year.

The Flyers will begin a five-game, A-10 road swing beginning with a trip to Philadelphia to face Temple on Friday, Oct. 15 and Saint Joseph’s on Sunday, Oct. 17.
