Dayton Flyers

DAYTON, Ohio - University of Dayton women’s soccer player Colleen ‘Willy’ Williams is not only doing her part on the pitch, but she is also making a difference through charity work.  Her new UD project, Willy’s Wish –Dollars for Dayton, will help a family in need.  Her hopes are that this fundraiser will change a Dayton family’s life, and it all starts with a single dollar.  The sophomore asks for exactly $1 from any Flyer fans willing to donate. 

"A dollar may seem insignificant coming from your pocket, but it makes a big difference that could change a family’s life if you put all of the money together," said Williams.

The UD women’s soccer team will be collecting the $1 donations at their remaining four home games (Oct. 1, 3, 8 & 10). Willy’s Wish collection boxes will be located at both entrances of Baujan Field.

The Flyers’ leading scorer this year, Williams is currently ranked 8th in the NCAA in scoring (21 points on 8 goals and 5 assists).

During the holiday season, Williams and the UD women’s soccer team will present a family from the Dayton area with a check. 

“Willy’s Wish is important to me because it’s helping out a family that doesn’t have much,” said Williams. “I just want to see how something so little can make a big difference.”

The Flyers will start taking donations this Friday, Oct. 1 when Dayton (8-2-0) hosts Fordham in its Atlantic 10 opener at Baujan Field. Admission is free to all UD women’s soccer regular season home games.
