NO. 20 WOMEN'S SOCCER DRAWS WISCONSIN IN NCAA FIRST ROUND

DAYTON -- The 20th-ranked University of Dayton women's soccer team will play No. 25 University of Wisconsin in the First Round of the NCAA Championship Friday in South Bend, IN. The game is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. Eastern Time.

Dayton (20-1-0) carries the nation's longest winning streak into the NCAA Championship by way of its fifth Atlantic 10 Tournament title. UD beat Rhode Island 1-0 in overtime to clinch the title Sunday in Amherst, MA.

The Flyers will be making their fifth NCAA appearance since 1999 and fourth consecutive. UD advanced to the second round in 1999 before falling to Notre Dame in South Bend. In 2001, Dayton upset Maryland and beat Miami-Ohio before falling at UCLA in the Sweet 16. UD is 3-4-0 all-time in NCAA postseason play.

An at-large selection out of the Big Ten Conference, the Wisconsin Badgers are 15-5-1. UD and UW shared no common opponents during the regular season. But the Flyers defeated Mid-American Conferennce regular season champion Ohio University 4-0 in a preseason exhibition while the Badgers dismantled them 6-0 in UW's season opener.

The winner of the UD-UW match will face the winner of Notre Dame vs. Eastern Illinois on Sunday at 1 p.m. The Fighting Irish were the national No. 4-seed and selected to host the four-team, sub-regional.
