BUTLER/VCU ADDED TO DAYTON WOMEN'S SOCCER SCHEDULE

2012 Schedule (PDF)

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. –
The recent addition of Butler and VCU to the Atlantic 10 Conference in 2012-13 has led to changes to the previously-released University of Dayton women’s soccer schedule in order to accommodate a nine-match conference season with its new members.

Playing the New Members
• The three-time defending A-10 champion Flyers were originally scheduled to play at Butler in an exhibition match on Aug. 8, 2012. That has been cancelled because the Flyers will now play the Bulldogs in an A-10 match Oct. 5 in Indianapolis.
• The Flyers host VCU in their regular season finale, Oct. 28 at Baujan Field.

What Changed?
•  The Flyers will now start their conference schedule with a four-game road swing and close out the 2012 regular season with five consecutive home games.
• All but one of the previously released conference matches have changed dates. The Richmond game on Oct. 26 at Baujan Field is the only match to stay the same date and time.
• Instead of opening conference play at Xavier, Dayton will now host the Musketeers on Saturday, Oct. 13.
• George Washington and Charlotte were dropped from the Flyers’ 2012 A-10 schedule.

What Remains the Same?
• All members will play 9 matches.
• The A-10 Women’s Soccer Championship will be hosted by Rhode Island in Kingston, R.I. Nov. 1-4.

Why the Change?
• Butler University accepted an invitation to the A-10 Conference on May 2. Originally, the Bulldogs were slated to join the league in 2013-14, but on May 29 Butler announced it would exit the Horizon League immediately and compete in the A-10 in 2012-13.
• Virginia Commonwealth accepted its invitation to the A-10 for the 2012-13 season on May 15. The Rams are leaving the Colonial Athletic Association.
• Dayton released its 2012 women’s soccer schedule on May 1.
