FLYERS TO TAKE ON VIRGINIA TECH IN NCAA REMATCH

2010 NCAA Women's Soccer Championship Bracket | 2010 Women's Soccer NCAA Selection Show Reaction

DAYTON, Ohio – The University of Dayton women’s soccer team learned its fate for 2010 NCAA Women’s Soccer Championship Monday afternoon in the Time Warner Flight Deck.

The Flyers (18-3-0), who earned an automatic berth by virtue of winning the Atlantic 10 Women’s Soccer Championship, will play Virginia Tech (10-9-1) in Columbus, Ohio at the Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium this Friday, Nov. 12. The Hokies earned an at-large berth, and are one of eight teams from the Atlantic Coast Conference to earn a berth.

Dayton’s first round game will be a rematch of Dayton’s 3-1 loss to Virginia Tech last season in the second round of the NCAA Tournament at Baujan Field. Ohio State, the No. 3 seed in the Maryland Region, and St. Francis (Pa.) are the other two teams in the lower bracket of the Maryland Region.

The third-seeded Buckeyes open with St. Francis (Pa.) at 5 p.m. Friday, followed by the Dayton vs. Virginia Tech game.

Tech is 1-3 in neutral games this season, while the Flyers are 3-0 at neutral sites.

Dayton has earned a trip to the NCAA Tournament seven times now, and for the second consecutive season.

First-round matches will be played Friday, November 12, at campus sites, and second-round matches will be played Sunday, November 14, at the same campus sites.  Third-round games will be played at on-campus sites November 19, 20 or 21. Quarterfinal matches will be played November 26, 27 or 28. Times will be announced.

The 29th annual NCAA Women’s College Cup will be played December 3 and 5 at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, North Carolina.
