BELJAN NAMED WOMEN'S SOCCER FRESHMAN ALL-AMERICA BY SOCCERBUZZ.COM

  University of Dayton women's soccer player Kathleen Beljan was selected to the 2008 Division I Freshman All-America Fourth Team as determined by SoccerBuzz.com.

Also, three Flyers earned Great Lakes All-Region honors from SoccerBuzz.com. Junior forward Mandi Back led the way as a Second Team selection. Junior midfielder Colleen Gibson was named Third Team All-Great Lakes Region and Beljan was named an All-Freshman Great Lakes Region Player.

Beljan, of Hilliard, Ohio, started 20 games on defense as a freshman, helping the unit hold opponents to 0.95 goals per game. She was named to the A-10 All-Rookie Team and All-Championship Team and was a Second Team A-10 pick, in addition to being selected First Team All-Ohio.

Back, of North Olmsted, Ohio, is a three-time All-Great Lakes Region pick, earning First Team accolades in 2006 and Second Team in 2007. The reigning All-Ohio Women's Soccer Player of the Year is also a three-time First Team All-Atlantic 10 selection, earning A-10 Offensive Player of the Year honors as a sophomore. This season she led the Flyers in goals scored, finding the back of the net eight times, and was named to the Atlantic 10 All-Championship Team.

Gibson, of Moreno Valley, Calif., led UD in assists, dishing out nine in 18 games. Her .50 assists per game was 26th best in the NCAA National Ranking Summary. Gibson was also a First Team All-Atlantic 10 and First Team All-Ohio selection this season.

The University of Dayton women's soccer team finished the 2008 campaign with a 15-6-1 record and advanced to the Atlantic 10 Championship for a league-record 13th consecutive time.
