DAYTON, Ohio -  The Dayton women's soccer team recorded its fourth straight win on Sunday taming the Oakland Golden Grizzlies 5-0 at Baujan Field. Four different Flyers scored their first goals of the season to help move the team's record to 7-2-0 overall (1-0-0 Atlantic 10).The Grizzlies fell to 2-6-0 with the loss.

Kelly Blumenschein, Cara Cornacchia, Stephanie Wurth, and Kristen Persichini each collected their first goals of the season as the Flyers had a season-high 28 shots to Oakland's 11.

After a slow start in hot field conditions, the Flyers got on board in the 22nd minute as freshman Kelly Blumenschein blasted a free kick from 30 yards out that sailed into the upper right corner of the net for her first career goal.

Dayton tacked on another at the 44:11 mark when sophomore Eileen Hughes served a corner kick to the back post that Lindy Barber headed to an open Cornacchia who put it past Oakland goalkeeper Kim Herbst.

The Flyers kept the momentum going in the second half as Wurth launched a free kick of her own from 40 yards out that squeezed through Herbst's hands, extending UD's lead 3-0.

Caitlin Proffitt and Kristen Persichini would add two more goals in the 70th and 84th minutes to match last year's goal total against Oakland and to seal the victory for the Dayton women.

The UD defense was stifling once again, holding the Grizzlies to only two shots on goal. Goalkeeper Niki Reed posted her fifth shutout of the year and 11th of her career which places her fifth on the all-time shutout list at Dayton.

Dayton returns to action Friday, September 28 to take on Atlantic 10 foe Temple. The Flyers and Owls will face off in Philadelphia at 2:00 p.m. ET. UD will then return home to Baujan Field Sunday, September 30 for a match-up against conference opponent George Washington. Sunday's game is set for 1 p.m. ET.
