THREE SECOND-HALF GOALS LIFT FLYERS OVER BONNIES IN WOMEN'S SOCCER

Oct. 21, 2005

ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. -  The University of Dayton women's soccer team rallied for three goals in the final 22 minutes of play to defeat St. Bonaventure University, 3-0, at McGraw-Jennings Field Friday afternoon. Senior Reba Sedlacek struck for her seventh goal of the year as the Flyers improved to 9-4-3 overall and 5-2-1 in the Atlantic 10.

UD controlled both halves of play, out-shooting the Bonnies 6-2 in the first half and 11-5 in the second half. But Sedlacek finally broke the Flyers' 259 minute drought (more than two and half games) in the 59th minute with an unassisted goal. The UD defense would make that goal stand as the game-winner - her fourth of the season.

Sophomore Kristen Persichini scored her second goal of the season in the 76th minute with an assist from sophomore Natalia Walters. Sophomore Jen Leslie added an unassisted insurance goal for UD in the 85th minute.

The Flyers have allowed just two goals in last six matches. Sophomore goalkeeper Niki Reed made four saves in earning her fifth shutout of the season. Bona goalkeeper Lisa Eberhart collected seven saves.

Sedlacek paced the Flyers with four shots. Leslie, Walters and freshman Amanda Gallow each had two.

The Flyers return to action Sunday for their A-10 regular season finale at Fordham. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. UD's final regular season game is Friday, Oct. 28 at the University of Texas.

In the heated A-10 women's soccer race, a win Sunday would put Dayton a good position to qualify for the A-10 Women's Soccer Championship -- which the Flyers will host at Baujan Field Nov. 3-6.
