HEINK EARNS A-10 ACADEMIC ALL-CONFERENCE HONORS

May 1, 2007

PHILADELPHIA
- University of Dayton sophomore Jeanna Heink has been named to the 2007 Atlantic 10 Academic All-Conference rowing team.

Heink, who rows on the UD's Atlantic 10 Champion Lightweight 8 boat, is the only sophomore selected on the 10-member academic all-conference team. The Lexington, Ky., native is a chemical engineering major and showcases a 4.0 cumulative grade point average.

"Jeanna is one of the hardest working women on the team," head coach Mike Farrey said. "It is no surprise that this is equally true in the classroom. We are proud to have Jeanna on our team, and she is a model example of how a student-athlete should conduct herself."

UD's Lightweight 8 is currently ranked No. 10 nationally in the US Rowing coaches poll. At the 2007 A-10 Women's Rowing Championship, the Lightweight 8 won its race for the third year in a row.

Academic success is nothing new for the Flyers. Last week the women's rowing team was one of seven athletics programs at the University of Dayton were honored by the NCAA with public recognition awards for their latest Academic Progress Rate (APR). Five men's sports including basketball, cross country, football, golf and tennis were joined by women's golf on the list.

Dayton returns to action at the Dad Vail Regatta on Friday, May 11 in Philadelphia. http://atlantic10.cstv.com/sports/w-rowing/spec-rel/050107aad.html 2007 Atlantic 10 Women's Rowing Academic All-Conference Team
