Dayton Flyers

SALEM, Ohio - Off to one of their best starts in recent memory, the Dayton Flyers are tied for third after day one of the Youngstown State Invitational.

Leading the way is freshman Julie Pouliquen who shot a 77 and is in third after the first day. Pouliquen shot a 36 on the front nine and a 41 on the back.

Right behind Pouliquen was sophomore Katie Dempsey who tallied an 81. Dempsey got better as the round went on shooting a 42 on the front nine and a 39 on the back.

In third for the Flyers was a tie between sophomores Paige Smith and Casey Peterson. Smith's 83 was the best round of her collegiate career while Peterson recorded a one stroke improvement on the back nine of play.

Sophomore Katie Gallagher is one stroke behind Smith and Peterson after shooting an 84. Gallagher played well on the first half of the course with a 40. Freshman Heather Grant rounded out the scoring with an 87 in her collegiate debut.

As a team, UD shot a 324 on a slick course due to the rain from the weekend.

Monday's play will begin at 9:30 a.m. ET with a shotgun start, continuing at Salem Hills Golf Course in Salem, Ohio. This will be the final day of the two-day tournament.
