LOUIS SUTTMANN NAMED DAYTON’S DIRECTOR OF BASKETBALL OPS

Louis Suttmann was a manager for the women's basketball team from 2006-09 when he was a student at Dayton.
DAYTON, Ohio – A familiar face is joining the University of Dayton women’s basketball coaching staff. Head Coach Jim Jabir has added Louis Suttmann as the Flyers’ director of basketball operations. Suttmann will coordinate all of Dayton's travel, oversee day-to-day basketball operations and run the Jim Jabir Basketball Camps.

“Louis has great knowledge of our program and knows our values,” said Jabir. “He is compassionate. He is thorough. He is organized. He’s just a dynamic guy. He is also a very hard worker and he is someone that we felt we could bring in to allow us to focus more on coaching and recruiting.”

Suttmann, a 2009 Dayton alumnus, served as a manager for the UD women’s basketball team from 2006-2009. He assisted in practice drills and time management, film exchange and handled team accommodations and meals on road trips.

“I find coming back to the University of Dayton as the director of basketball operations to be an amazing opportunity to work, not only for my mentor, Coach Jabir, but also for the wonderful University I graduated from,” said Suttmann. “I look forward to contributing to the championship-caliber team Coach Jabir has built.

“In the time I’ve been back on campus it’s been wonderful seeing the growth of the seniors on the team, who were freshmen in my last year as manager at UD,” Suttmann added.

Following graduation from Dayton, Suttmann worked the summer of 2009 as a marketing intern for the Toledo Mud Hens, a Triple-A minor league baseball affiliate of the Detroit Tigers.

Suttmann then worked for two years at the American International School Salzburg in Austria from 2009-2011. In addition to his role as the high school resident advisor, he was head coach of the American International boys varsity basketball team. After one year, he was also promoted to assistant athletic director.

While a student, Suttmann was a member of the University of Dayton President’s Emissaries, one of 30 students selected by the office of the president to represent the UD student body with the University President and Board of Trustees. He was president of the Flyers Against Malaria Club, increasing membership from two to 130 students during his tenure. He also served as a camp counselor for Dayton women’s basketball camps. During Fall 2006 he was a teaching assistant at UD.

Suttmann, a native of Put-in-Bay, Ohio, located on South Bass Island, graduated with honors from Dayton in 2009 with a degree in sports management  and minors in marketing and communication.
