DAYTON, Ohio – The University of Dayton Flyers took down the Fordham Rams 69-51 Saturday in their Think Pink game and Senior Day in front of 1,336 fans at UD Arena.

It was an emotional senior day as Kristin Daugherty, Aundrea “Puna” Lindsey, and Ebony Gainey were all honored by the Flyers. All three started the game, and it was an especially special moment for Gainey as she set foot on the court for the first time as a Flyer. Due to a heart condition discovered prior to her freshman season, Gainey has not played a collegiate game until today’s contest against the Rams.

Gainey scored the first points of the game and her career with 19:14 showing on the clock. At the 18:02 mark she came out of the game to a standing ovation.

Dayton dominated the first half, taking a 38-15 lead. Fordham got as close as 11 points with 6:03 to play in the game but the Flyers were able to build the lead back to an 18-point advantage with 1:16 left to play on a pair of De’Sarae Chambers free throws to put the Flyers up 67-49. Kari Daugherty scored on a layup with 13 seconds to make the final score of 69-51.

Raterman led the Flyers with her fourth double-double of the season, 18 points and 10 rebounds. Kristin Daugherty added 12 points and seven rebounds. 

Both Daugherty and Lindsey were subbed out late in the game to standing ovations.

The Flyers (18-10, 9-5 A-10) shot 43.5 percent from the field and held Fordham (12-18, 4-10 A-10) to just 32.1 percent. UD won the battle of the boards 48-27.

The Flyers will play at the 2011 Atlantic 10 Championship at the Tsongas Center in Lowell, Mass. March 4-7.
