Boxscore

LOS ANGELES –
The University of Dayton topped Colorado 70-50 in the consolation game at the USC Women of Troy Basketball Tournament Sunday at the Galen Center.

Four Flyers scored in double figures led by junior Justine Raterman’s 17 points and nine rebounds. Raterman was named to the all-tournament team.

Senior Kristin Daugherty had a double-double of 15 points and 11 rebounds. Redshirt junior Elle Queen tied her career high with 13 points and had six rebounds, while junior Patrice Lalor 11 points and a team-high three assists.

Dayton improves to 6-5 overall while Colorado is now 7-4 on the season.

The 50 points allowed is the lowest by a UD opponent this season. The 25.7 percent that the Buffaloes shot from the field (18-of-70) is also a season low for the Flyers. The 22 CU turnovers Dayton forced was one off its season best.

The Flyers dominated the boards 59-45. UD also made more trips to the free throw line, converting 23-of-31, while Colorado made just seven in the game.

Dayton started the game with an 8-0 run and never lost the lead.

Dayton led 29-16 at the half, despite its last field goal coming with 7:25 left to play in the half. Colorado shot just 15.6 percent from the field (5-of-32), while the Flyers shot 28.6 percent (8-of-28). UD made 11 free throws in the first half to CU’s four makes from the line. The 16 points is the lowest the Flyers allowed in a half this season.

Aundrea Lindsey scored UD’s last point of the half – on a free throw – with 2:34 until halftime.  The Flyers held the Buffaloes scoreless until the 15:28 mark, which helped UD take an 8-2 lead. CU converted only two field goals in the first 10 minutes of the game and UD led 19-4 with 10:29 on the clock.

The Flyers grabbed their largest lead of the game after a Raterman layup to make the score 53-31 with 8:40 to play.

Brittany Spears had a game-high 22 points and 12 rebounds to pace Colorado.

Dayton continues its West Coast road trip when it plays at Cal-State Bakersfield this Wednesday, Dec. 22 at 5 p.m. ET.
