DAYTON, Ohio - The University of Dayton Flyers held off Duquesne's late game comeback to prevail in a 77-75 victory Wednesday night at UD Arena. Dayton was led by six-time Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week Justine Raterman who led all scorers with a game-high 17 points.

With the win, Dayton advances to 13-6 overall and 2-1 in the conference, while Duquesne falls to 11-7 and 1-2 in the A-10.

The Flyers led much of the second half, but in the game's final minute the Dukes pulled within one point of the lead twice. Both times however the Flyers were able to respond and rally, never losing their lead.

UD had five players reach double digits in scoring, including Casey Nance who netted a career- high 16 points.

Kendel Ross scored 13 in the game, including sinking 6-of-8 shots from the line. Ross played an important role in the team offense, dishing out six assists, a career best.

Kristin Daugherty tallied 11 points, shooting 5-of-7 from the field and Kayla Moses added 10 in the victory.

Duquesne senior Kristi Little shot just 2-of-12 from the field but was a perfect 10-of-10 from the foul line. Little tallied 15 points on the game, sharing the team-high with fellow teammates Samantha Pollino and Keri Pryor.

Duquesne led for most of the first half, but Dayton never fell far behind. The Dukes took the lead behind a Little three-pointer with 13:55 left in the frame, and they would hold the lead until the half's final minute.

Following two free throws made by Kayla Moses, Dayton entered the half with a 30-27 lead.

The Flyers carried their first half momentum into the second half and quickly began to build a lead. Dayton opened the half by going on a 19-6 run. The team improved its shooting, hitting 18-of-31 shots, for a 58 percent shooting percentage in the second frame.

UD led by as many as 16 points. The Dukes fought back late, and made the final minutes of the game exciting; however they were never able to regain the lead. Although Dayton was out-rebounded by Duquesne, the Flyers out-shot the Dukes 46 to 38 percent.

UD will hit the road on Saturday, Jan. 24 to play Charlotte. The game will start at 2 p.m. ET and can be followed with live stats at www.DaytonFlyers.com.
