FULL COURT PRESS - KAYLA MOSES

Oct. 15, 2008

With three days before the start of practice and nearly a month before the start of the 2008-2009 season, DaytonFlyers.com will sit down with the newest members of the University of Dayton women's basketball team to get to know the Flyer freshmen a little better. The series, called Full Court Press, will introduce each of the seven freshmen. In today's edition, DaytonFlyers.com features Kayla Moses.

Kayla Moses attended Scott County High School in Georgetown, Kentucky where she led her high school team to 16 wins and the Regional Semifinals in the 2007-2008 season. The point guard averaged 21.9 ppg, 4.9 rpg, and 3.1 apg and shot nearly 76 percent from the foul line. She finished her career with 1,178 points.

Selected as Third Team All-State by the Courier Journal as a senior, Kayla earned All-Tournament honors at the District and Regional Tournaments last year.

This National Beta Club member was also a McDonald's All-American Nominee and was named to the All-11th Region Team.

Why did you decide to play basketball at UD?
The campus was beautiful, not too big and not too small. The coaches made my family and I feel right at home, I felt it was the best choice for me.

What is your first ever basketball memory?
Winning basketball at Kings Island at a very young age.

What is your major? Why?
As of right now I am undecided, but I'm thinking about Criminal Justice or Pre-Med. I love to help people and I enjoy watching shows such as The First 48 and Cold Case Files! It would be interesting becoming a forensic scientist.

What motivates you to get up in the morning? on the court?
GOD. Knowing that I have a good life.

Who is your role model? Why?
My whole family is my role model, I don't have one particular one. They are all my models in their own special way.

What is your dream job? (not career goal but cool thing to do)
It would be cool to study different species in the ocean like a Marine Biologist, I love dolphins.

If you could have dinner with any three people in the world (living or deceased) who would they be?
Probably Cynthia Cooper, Martin Luther King, and Chris Brown!!

Tell us something about yourself that your roommate does not even know about you: My senior year I became a Certified Nurse Assistant.

Favorite part of your game: Moves of dribble drive.

Favorite place to shoot on the court: The Wing.

Your dorm/apt. is on fire...what three things would you save?
My pictures of my family, my money if I have any at the time, and my feather pillow I've had it since I was young.

The best meal I can cook is: Spaghetti and breakfast food for the most part.

My favorite professor is: Professor K. Bartely!

My favorite piece of clothing is: Hooping gear.

When no one is looking, I like to: Sing!

If I played in a band, I would be: The lead singer!

My signature outfit: Anything that I feel is comfortable, and looks nice.

Give the position you play and why you think it is better than the other positions on the court: I play the point guard position and its better because you have the ball in your hands more than a post player.

If I could live anywhere in the world, I would live in: The Bahamas.

My pregame ritual: Listen to music and get my mind focused on the game.
