BRONX, NY - Dayton overcame a nine-point halftime deficit to win for the fifth time in six games, 72-64, over Fordham in Atlantic 10 Conference women's basketball action on Sunday at Rose Hill Gymnasium. Cara Wright led the Flyer comeback with 14 of her game-high 25 points in the second half while recording her conference leading 11th double-double of the season.

With the win, Dayton improved to 14-5 overall and 6-2 in A-10 play after making 21-of-24 free throws in the second half. Fordham fell to 7-12 overall and 2-6 in conference action.

Wright scored 20 points for the third consecutive game and the sixth time this season behind an 11-for-13 performance from the free throw line. She also led all players with 15 rebounds while also recording three steals.

Two other Flyers reached double figures in scoring. Kiki Lund tallied 15 on 3-for-6 shooting from three-point range while Jennifer Strong finished with 11 points and a career-high 10 rebounds for her first ever double-double.

Dayton dominated the glass with a 43-30 lead in rebounding as Amber Peterink chipped in with six rebounds and five points for the Flyers.

Sophomore Karah Cloxton came off the bench for six assists in 22 minutes of action to lead all players. Senior Terri Ramsey added three of her own for Dayton, which had assists on 16 of its 21 field goals.

The Flyers started the game on a 9-0 run over the first 4:33 of the game until the outside play of the Rams closed the gap. UD's inside presence of Cape and Wright were offset by five three-point baskets from the home team as Fordham built a 17-11 lead by the midway point of the first half.

Fordham led 33-26 at halftime on the strength of 11 point efforts by Carrol and Roark in the first half. Wright countered with 11 points and seven rebounds of her own in the first half to dominate the paint, but the outside play of the Rams proved to be the difference in the first half. Fordham made 7-of-10 shots from outside the arc and just 5-of-18 from inside. In contrast, Dayton made 7-of-21 shots on the interior and 3-of-10 from downtown.

Dayton chipped away at the nine-point halftime deficit behind the continued strong play of Wright combined with exceptional free throw shooting in the second half. Wright tallied 14 second-half points while going 10-for-10 from the charity stripe to help the Flyers take over the Rams by the nine minute mark, 50-49, on a three-point shot by Strong.

After taking the lead, Dayton made six straight free throws on two different occasions over the next seven minutes for a 66-59 lead with 2:24 remaining. However, Fordham would close to within two at 66-64 with just under a minute remaining on an old fashioned three-point play by Carrol but a Peterink jumper in the lane 20 seconds later followed by four straight free throws from Strong iced the game for Dayton 72-64.

The Flyers head home for a pair of Atlantic 10 games at UD Arena next weekend. Dayton plays host to Charlotte on Friday at 7 p.m. ET. Then UD takes on St. Bonaventure on Sunday at 2 p.m. ET in a game that will be televised live on the Atlantic 10 Telvision Network (Fox Sports Ohio).
