PITTSBURGH - The University of Dayton women's basketball team dropped a road conference game at Duquesne Friday night, 59-51, at the A. J. Palumbo Center. The Flyers (11-13; 5-8 Atlantic 10) were led by Cara Wright, who scored 22 points and grabbed 11 boards for her 10th double-double of the year.

Maria Stankevich led Duquesne (9-15; 4-9 A-10) with 16 points while Nicole Sinclair added 12 points and 10 rebounds.

Wright recorded her fourth double-double in the last five games. Jennifer Strong added nine points, while Emily Williams had six points, three blocks, three assists and six rebounds.

Strong opened the scoring with a pair of free throws and after a Wright basket inside, Duquesne went on a 5-0 run to take a 9-4 lead eight minutes into the game. Dayton answered with a 6-0 run of its own on jumpers from Amber Peterink and two by Wright to take a 10-9 lead.

The Dukes surged ahead for a 14-12 lead, and jumper from Wright pulled UD with 20-16. Katie Butler's put-back with four seconds to go brought the Flyers to 24-20 at the break.

Wright led all players at intermission with 12 points and seven rebounds.

Dayton opened the second half with a basket inside from Strong, before a driving lay-up from Terri Ramsey and another basket from Wright tied the game at 26-26.

A three-pointer from Williams made it 29-26, and after trading buckets with the Dukes, the Flyers got another three from Williams for a 34-30 lead. Duquesne responded with back-to-back threes before Ashley Armstrong drove the lane and Wright scored again to bring the Flyers within two at 40-38 with 6:25 to go.

But a 7-0 Duquesne run gave the Dukes their largest lead to that point at 47-38. A three by Ramsey pulled UD within five at 51-46, but the Dukes hit four-of-five free throws down the stretch to hold on.

Dayton visits No. 17 (AP, No. 19 Coaches') Temple on Sunday in a 2:00 tip-off from the Liacouras Center in Philadelphia. The Owls (21-3; 13-0) have won 18-straight.
