WRIGHT NAMED A-10 WOMEN'S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Dec. 19, 2004

DAYTON - After pulling down the fifth-most rebounds in a game in Dayton women's basketball history Saturday against Detroit, Cara Wright was named the Atlantic 10 Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week Sunday. Wright's fourth double-double led the Flyers (5-4) to a 87-55 win against Detroit as she led all players in rebounds (20), points (14) and assists (4).

The 20 rebounds was a career-high for the junior forward from Lakota West High School in West Chester, OH. Wright nearly out-rebounded the Detroit team by her lonesome, as the Titans finished with 25 rebounds.

Dayton set an Atlantic 10 record with 79 rebounds against Detroit on December 18. The Flyers set an NCAA-high for rebounds this season, and posted the seventh-highest total number of rebounds in a game in NCAA Division I history. The Flyers held a 79-25 margin on the glass, and had more offensive rebounds (27) than Detroit had total boards.

Wright also moved from eighth in the Atlantic 10 in rebounding entering the game to second in the conference with 8.7 rebounds per game. Wright is also second in the A-10 in offensive rebounds with 3.44 per game.

Wright's four double-doubles this season is the most in the A-10 conference, and her 14 points marked the sixth time in nine games she reached double-figures.

The Flyers are off for Christmas until December 28, when UD meets Brown at 1:30 p.m. in the Florida International Sun & Fun Classic. Dayton will meet the winner of Stony Brook and host FIU on December 29. The Flyers return home to open Atlantic 10 play on January 3 against Xavier.

Cynthia Jordan of Temple was also named co-Player of the Week with Wright.
