Senior Emily Hass earns award at cross country banquet on Sunday

DAYTON, Ohio - The University of Dayton honored three stand-out women's cross country runners at its annual awards banquet on Sunday. At the award ceremony, held at Time Warner Flight Deck in the University of Dayton Arena, head coach Ann Alyanak presented the most valuable runner, rookie of the year, and coaches award to the program's top performers of the season.

The Most Valuable Runner award was given to Kristin Terry. The freshman Flyer finished first for Dayton in three of seven meets throughout the fall season. Terry was one of the top two runners on the team at every meet. In addition, the Texas native ran the second fastest time of the season for a Flyer.

Senior Emily Haas was honored with the Coaches award, an award that recognizes an individual who displays a good attitude and hard work ethic. Haas has worked had during her three years at Dayton and has consistently improved because of her efforts. The Chesterton, Ohio native has showed great leadership and dedication to the program and is why she has continued to run well throughout her years at UD.

Alex Miles rounded out the awards for UD as she was named the 2006 Rookie of the Year, an award that recognizes the top rookie on the team. Miles led the team at three meets including the Atlantic 10 Championships and was in the top seven at every other meet. The freshman was the only Flyer to earn an Atlantic 10 honor all season. She was named A-10 Rookie of the Week after her strong performance at the All-Ohio Championships. Miles also owns the third fastest 5K time of the season on the team.
