FLYERS TAKE ON OHIO'S FINEST AT ALL-OHIO CHAMIONSHIPS
Oct. 3, 2005 DAYTON, OH - The University of Dayton cross country program rolls into Delaware, OH on October 7 to face the best Ohio has to offer in the All-Ohio Championships. On the women's team, freshman Amy Kempf and junior Dianne Striebel will be looking to gain even more momentum going into the Atlantic 10 Championships. Both finished in the top five of the Flyer 5K Challenge and in the top 25 of the National Catholic Invitational. Kempf also finished 21st in the Greater Louisville Classic while Striebel was off winning the Dayton River Corridor Half Marathon. The mix of youth and experience has been working well thus far for the Flyers, with a mix and match of upperclassmen and newcomers all contributing to the team. Senior Leaders Sarah Kessler and Kate Mone provide leadership and experience to the team. Leading the men into the meet will be freshman Mike Andersen, who has finished first for the Flyers in all three events this year. Also running strong for the Flyers are juniors Eric Contreras and Brian Gilchrist, who both have finished as one of the first six runners across for UD in all three races. Freshman Matt Peters, who has a twin brother, Mike Peters, also on the team, has been one of the first six runners across the finish line for the Flyers in each of his first three college starts. The Flyers split up for their next meet, with the men going to the Falcon Invitational in Bowling Green, OH on October 15 and the women heading to NCAA Pre-Nationals in Terre Haute, IN on the same day. |
