DAYTON, Ohio - University of Dayton head women's cross country coach and assistant track and field coach Ann Alyanak is among five American women set to compete in the marathon at the 2007 IAAF World Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Osaka, Japan on September 2. Alyanak, who is also featured in Runner's World online this month, was named to the team after finishing as the second American woman and ninth woman overall at the Boston Marathon last April.

Alyanak, having improved her personal best time in Boston by more than nine minutes, also qualified for the 2008 Olympic trials with her time of 2:38.55.

It is the second time Alyanak has earned a spot on the US world road running team. Last year she helped lead the women's team at the IAAF Championships in Debrecen, Hungary. She was the second American woman across the finish line helping the team finish 10th overall.
