KATIE MONE WILL ATTEND THE 2005 NCAA LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE
May 19, 2005 Katie Mone, a junior distance runner from Cleveland, OH will represent the University of Dayton at the 2005 NCAA Leadership Conference. The NCAA will be hosting the 2005 NCAA Leadership Conference at Disney's Coronado Springs Resort in Lake Buena Vista, FL to discuss issues involving intercollegiate athletics. Student-athletes will have the opportunity to discuss issues that may affect them in their communities and campus. Attendees will have the chance to enhance their leadership, communication, decision-making and problem solving skills. Some keynote speakers that will be attending the conference are Special Olympics and motivational speaker Loretta Claiborne and "Survivor" TV show winner Ethan Zohn. In addition to speakers the student athletes will be participating in team building games at Disney's Wide World of Sports Complex. Following the leadership conference students will be encouraged to share their experiences and topic discussions with their campus leaders. The participants are also asked to address an issue that they believe is important to either their campus or community and are to implement a project to address the issue. This is the ninth year of the NCAA Leadership Conference and each year a student-athlete has been chosen from the University of Dayton. |
