CROSS COUNTRY WRAPS UP ALL-OHIO MEET

Delaware, OH - The University of Dayton cross country squad took to the field with over 40 teams from across the state of Ohio at Ohio Wesleyan University on Friday afternoon. In the Division I bracket the men notched a sixth place finish (141 points) while the women came in eighth (180 points). The race results were broken up into three divisions. With all three divisions combined, the Flyer men placed 14th out of 39 (327 points) schools and the women came in 12th of 44 (339 points). Freshman Liz Coorey took first for the women's team and 30th overall with a time of 20:10. A freshman has come across first in each race so far for the women's team. Another rookie, Brigitte Sherman, was right behind Coorey finishing in 20:11 to take 31st overall. Sophomore Kate Tejkl (20:40, 37th overall) and junior Sydney Hubbard (20:53, 39th overall) were next to finish for Dayton. Scoring for the first time this season, sophomore Bridget Conlon posted a time of 21:06 to score fifth (43rd overall). Completing the scoring for the Flyers, junior Anne Oltman (50th overall) turned in a time of 21:23. Oltman was closely followed by sophomore Alex Miles, who finished 53rd overall in 21:27. For the men's team, freshman Matt Lemon crossed the finish line in 27:03 to lead the Flyers for the second time this season with a 14th overall finish. Senior Billy Przybyla came across in 27:32 (24th overall) to finish second for Dayton. Right behind the senior was a pair of juniors in Tim Kaelin and Tom Middleton, who each scored for the first time this season for the Flyers. Kaelin turned in a 27:38 time, good for 27th overall. Middleton was fourth for Dayton with a 28:20 finish (37th overall). Rounding out the scoring for Dayton were freshman Chris Lemon (28:30, 39th overall) and sophomore Brad Boyd (28:36, 40th overall). Next up for the men's team is the NCAA Pre-Nationals in Terra Haute, Indiana on October 13, the meet is scheduled for an 11:45 a.m. start. The women's squad will travel to Bowling Green, Ohio on the same day to compete in the Falcon Invitational. Official race time is to be announced. |
