BARHORST HONORED BY A-10 FOR SECOND STRAIGHT WEEK

PHILADELPHIA - Sophomore middle blocker Faye Barhorst (Fort Loramie, Ohio) was named Atlantic 10 Volleyball Player of the Week on Monday. The honor was her second straight from the conference.

Barhorst led UD to a 3-0 start in defense of its conference title as she tallied 46 kills and a .420 hitting percentage in the team's three matches. She averaged 5.11 kills per game and finished with 15 kills against Xavier, 18 versus Fordham and 13 against Rhode Island - all 3-0 wins for the Flyers.

Barhorst was also dominant on defense as she took part in 17 of Dayton's 33 blocks, averaging 1.89 blocks per game. She had five blocks versus Xavier, three against Fordham and was one shy of a season-high with nine against Rhode Island.

This season, Barhorst leads the Flyers and the Atlantic 10 Conference with 1.56 blocks per game and a .382 hitting percentage. She also leads UD and ranks third in the A-10 with 4.09 kills per game and 5.25 points per game.

The first-place Flyers (11-5, 3-0 A-10) travel to Philadelphia this weekend to take on Temple and La Salle. UD will put first-place on the line against Temple (5-12, 2-0 A-10) on Friday at 7 p.m. Dayton will then take on La Salle (7-11, 0-2 A-10) Saturday at 5 p.m.
