Two of the best teams in Southwest Ohio square off on Tuesday as Dayton (20-6, 10-1 A-10) travels to face Cincinnati (17-5, 7-3 BIG EAST) at Fifth Third Arena in a non-conference matchup beginning at 7:30 p.m. ET. Fans can follow the action live with Gametracker at www.DaytonFlyers.com.

UD has won 11 of its last 12 matches and looks to close out another successful month of October with a victory. The Flyers are 7-1 this season during October and 32-3 in October matches since Tim Horsmon took over as head coach at Dayton beginning with the 2003 season.

UC enters with a four-match winning streak that includes the Bearcats' first-ever win over Notre Dame this past weekend. Cincinnati has won eight of nine matches at home this season including seven straight. The Bearcats' only loss this season at Fifth Third Arena came to then-#10 ranked UCLA in four games.

Last season, Dayton and Cincinnati played in a tight, four-game match won by the Flyers at Frericks Center. Faye Barhorst finished with a .406 hitting percentage and a match-high 18 kills while Robynne Green posted 11 blocks for UD. The Bearcats were led by 15 kills and six blocks by Jessie Nevitt.

FLYERS AGAINST THE COMPETITION
Dayton has an 8-12 all-time record against Cincinnati, but broke a six-match losing streak to the Bearcats with a 3-1 win at Frericks Center.

Tim Horsmon - THE NEW MR. OCTOBER
UD has made its mark in the Atlantic 10 standings during the month of October under the direction of fourth-year Head Coach Tim Horsmon. Since Horsmon took over at UD in 2003, the Flyers are 32-3 during the month of October including a 7-1 mark in 2006. Dayton finished 7-1 in October 2003 and 9-1 in October 2004 before putting together a perfect 9-0 month of October 2005 in the midst of a 19-match winning streak.

UD LOOKS TO EXTEND WINNING WAYS
The Flyers have won a stretch of 11 victories in their last 12 matches which began with the start of Atlantic 10 Conference play on Sept. 22 at George Washington. During the stretch, UD has won seven of the matches by 3-0 sweep including wins on the road at George Washington, Charlotte, Rhode Island and Duquesne. Last season, the Flyers beat George Washington on Sept. 24 to begin a 19-match winning streak that resulted in the 2005 Atlantic 10 Regular Season West Division Championship.

DEFENSE WINS CHAMPIONSHIPS
Dayton is off to a 20-6 start this season and has won 67 of 92 games played by holding its opponents to a .178 combined hitting percentage. The Flyer front line has recorded 244.0 blocks in its first 26 matches (2.65 bpg) while the back row has tallied 16.91 digs per game while allowing just 115 service aces to the opposition (1.25 service aces per game allowed).

EFFICENT OFFENSE
The Flyers have hit .261 during a 20-6 start inwhich 14 of 20 victories have come by 3-0 sweep. Redshirt Sophomore Erin Schroeder has paced the UD offense with 12.15 assists per game and a career high of 71 assists against A-10 foe Xavier on Sept. 29. Dayton has recorded kills on 1,106 of 2,227 (.497) balls set by Schroeder this season.
