LINDSAY FLETEMIER COMPETES WITH A2 TEAM IN USA VOLLEYBALL OPEN
May 27, 2009 DAYTON, Ohio - The University of Dayton volleyball program's middle blocker Lindsay Fletemier helped lead the USA A2 "Blue" team to a bronze medal finish at the USA Adult Open Volleyball Championships at the Minneapolis Convention Center over the weekend. "The tournament was a great experience for me," said Fletemier. "It was good to play at such a high level of competition. I tried to work on things that would expand my game, and I hope I have a chance to do this again next year." Fletemier, a Garden City, Mich. native, and AVCA All-American served as a middle blocker. The USA A2 Blue team lost to the USA A2 Red Team 3-0 (25-11, 25-17, 25-23) in the playoff to advance to the Open's final match. The Blue team finished with a combined record of 6-3 in the tournament. "Lindsay had a terrific tournament," said A2 Blue Team head coach Suzie Fritz (Kansas State Head Coach). "She was one of our most productive and efficient attackers, hitting over .400 for the tournament and is an exceptional blocker and server as well. She has an immense amount of talent and potential, and really took advantage of her experience with the A2 team." Fletemier is one of seven letterwinners returning to the Red and Blue next season. Last season, the Flyers were 21-13 and made their fifth trip to the Big Dance earning the program's first at-large bid in volleyball. |
