COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - University of Dayton redshirt sophomore Lindsay Fletemier has been named to the U.S. Women's National A2 team. It was announced by USA Volleyball on Tuesday.

Fletemier, an AVCA All-American middle blocker, is one of 24 players in the entire country to be named to this year's A2 team, and one of six in to be named on the team at her position. She made the team after competing among 160 student-athletes for placement in the national spotlight. In addition, she is just the second Flyer to be named to the A2 team, the last was Faye Barhorst in 2006.

"I am really excited that I have been given the opportunity to go and compete with some of the best players in the nation," said Fletemier. "I think that it is a great chance for me to compete at a high level and pick up some things to add to my game."

Fletemier led Dayton in attacking and blocking in 2008 as she charted averages of 3.26 kills and 1.04 blocks per set. She added a team-leading .342 attack efficiency as the Flyers finished with a 21-13 record and earned an at-large bid in the 2008 NCAA Tournament. She was also named to the Atlantic 10 First Team.

The 2009 U.S. Women's National A2 program is scheduled to train May 18-22 in Minneapolis before being split into two 12-player rosters to compete in the Open Division of the 2009 USA Adult Open Championships. The Open Division flight takes place May 23-26 at the Minneapolis Convention Center.
