FLYER VOLLEYBALL CLINCHES SHARE OF A-10 REGULAR SEASON TITLE

DAYTON, Ohio - Homestanding Dayton assured itself of at least a share of the A-10 West Division Championship with a 3-0 (30-18, 30-16, 30-24) victory over Duquesne on Friday night. UD (21-7, 11-1 A-10) will now play for the top seed in next week's A-10 Tournament at Frericks Center on Saturday against Saint Louis at 5 p.m. ET. All fans who present a ticket stub from Saturday's UD men's basketball game versus Austin Peay will receive free admission for the Senior Day volleyball match. The Flyers were led by a pair of 17-kill performances from senior Faye Barhorst and junior Jamie-Lee Richards. Barhorst hit .625 on the night with five blocks while Richards hit at a .303 clip with eight digs and two blocks. Dayton out hit Duquesne .398 to .144 behind 52 assists from redshirt sophomore Erin Schroeder. Junior Robynne Green also connected for eight kills on 10 swings with no errors for the Flyers, which held a 65-31 advantage in kills. Defensively, UD was paced by 12 kills from Nicole Bateman who added 10 kills for her 14th double-double of the season as Dayton won for the 12th time in its last 14 matches. |
