WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Dayton ran its record to 6-0 on the season with another come-from-behind five-game win on Saturday. The Flyers beat North Carolina, 3-2 (30-27, 19-30, 23-30, 30-25, 15-6) to complete a sweep of the competition at the 2007 Mortar Board Premier.

Despite a slow start, UD increased its hitting percentage in every game of the match and finished with marks of .318 and .583 in the final two games. Overall, Dayton was out hit by North Carolina .181 to .164 despite three Flyers reaching double figures in kills.

Senior Jamie-Lee Richards led all players with 18 kills to go along with three blocks. She was followed with 16 kills and seven blocks from Lindsay Fletemier. Mortar Board Premier MVP Bethany Akerhielm finished a solid weekend with 15 kills, four blocks and a service ace.

Flyer libero Adrienne Green had a team-high 26 digs and two service aces to pace the Flyer defense. Redshirt junior Erin Schroeder was named to the All-Tournament Team after tallying 16 digs, 56 assists, three blocks and a service ace in Saturday's finale. Chelsy Christoff added 12 digs of her own for UD which recorded 82 overall as a team.

Junior Kortney Norris joined Akerhielm and Schroeder on the All-Tournament Team following a performance of six kills, nine digs, three blocks and one service ace.

After a back and forth start to the opening game, Dayton finally built a lead behind the play of Jamie-Lee Richards. After a kill by Erin Schroeder on a dump to the middle of the court, Richards followed with a kill and a block assist along with Lindsay Fletemier to put the Flyers ahead, 23-21. North Carolina would come back to knot the score at 24-all to start another back and forth affair. The Flyers finally took the game with a pair of UNC errors and another kill by Richards to finish off a 30-27 win.

Defense reigned supreme in the opening game as Carolina out hit Dayton .061 to .058. Jamie-Lee Richards led all players with five kills while Adrienne Green had a team-high seven digs in the victory for UD.

The Flyers were out matched in game two and lost 30-19. North Carolina out hit Dayton .318 to .118 despite eight kills by Jamie-Lee Richards. Unfortunately for UD, the rest of the team added just five more kills to trail UNC 18-14 in the second game. Adrienne Green added another six digs while Chelsy Christoff posted four, but Dayton trailed from wire-to-wire as the matched was evened at one game each.

UD led by as many as five during the early portion of the third game, but UNC came back to tie the score at the midpoint. The Tar Heels took the lead for good on a Flyer attack error to go on top 17-16 en route to a 30-23 win. Dayton was out hit again by a margin of .233 to .102 and another nine digs from Adrienne Green was not enough to prevent the Flyers from falling down two games to one in the match.

The Flyers came out with a more focused effort in the fourth game and quickly built a three-point lead. After a great play by the Dayton defense gave UD a 15-12 advantage, Erin Schroeder rolled a service ace over the top of the net for a four-point lead. The Flyers stretched the advantage to six on a kill by Robynne Green at 21-15 to force a Carolina timeout. After the break, the teams traded points until three straight from the Tar Heels made it a 25-21 Flyer lead. Bethany Akerhielm stopped the Carolina rush with a kill from the left side and UD went on to win, 30-25.

Dayton's offense came alive in game four as it hit .318 behind 17 assists from Erin Schroeder who also had seven digs. Bethany Akerhielm led the way with eight kills while Lindsay Fletemier added five of her own as UD led UNC in every statistical category.

UD powered its way out of the gate to start the deciding game on a 3-0 run. A kill by Lindsay Fletemier started the rally that was helped by a UNC attack error and a block from Fletemier and Schroeder. From there it was all Flyers as UD won its third five-game match of the season and its second straight of the day - all in come from behind fashion.

The Flyers return home to host local rival Cincinnati in non-conference action on Tuesday at 7 p.m. ET. Fans can follow the action live with Gametracker and Live Video for FREE at www.DaytonFlyers.com.
