Played in 71 games and 25 matches including 17 of the final 18 matches...Was fifth on the roster in blocks and one of seven Flyers to tally at least 100 kills...Tallied three double-digit performances in kills including a career-high 15 against Tulane on Sep. 15...Also had four blocks against the Green Wave and five others at Illinois...Added another five block assists as well as six kills at Xavier on Oct. 26...Had three kills in just five swings to go along with three blocks during the third game to help UD close out a 3-0 sweep over Indiana on Sep. 9...Also had a pair of kills and a block assist against #22 LSU...Posted her first collegiate double-double with 12 kills and 14 digs in a five-game victory over Wright State on Sep. 30.

2005
Played in 33 games and 21 matches during her first collegiate season... Had her best match of the season against Missouri State with six blocks, three kills and her first ever service ace...Made her collegiate debut in the season opening win over Bradley...Her first kill as a Flyer came later that day against Eastern Illinois...Recorded her first collegiate block against #15 UC Santa Barbara...During the offseason, she was one of five Flyers to participate in open tryouts for the US National Volleyball Team in Colorado Springs, Colo... She traveled with Bringit Promotions' tour of Argentina in June.

High School
As a senior, Akerhielm was named a First Team All-State player for Carmel High School by the Indiana High School Volleyball Coaches Association and the Indiana Coaches of Girls' Sports Association...She was an All-Conference pick named to the Indianapolis Star Super Team and was a member of the Indiana South All-Star Team...One of 14 players selected to the All-Tournament Team at the 2005 USA Volleyball Junior Olympic 18 Open Championships while leading Munciana Samurai to a second place finish.

Personal
Akerhielm is the daughter of Rob and Lynn Akerhielm and has a younger sister, Valerie...Born January 20, 1987...She is majoring in early childhood education...She decided to play volleyball at UD because she wanted to be part of a program that is on it's way up and she felt that she could contribute.
