DAYTON, Ohio - The University of Dayton track & field team was named a 2009 United States Track and Field Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic Team on Friday.

A total of 130 Division I programs were recognized as women's 2009 All-Academic Teams. Dayton's cumulative team GPA of 3.35 ranked 31st out of 130 teams.

The selection of the All-Academic Team awards is based on academic achievements. To be nominated, a team must carry a minimum 3.000 cumulative grade-point average.

Track and field team member Ashley Cattran, who boasts a 3.98 GPA as a pre-med major, was named to the USTFCCA Women's All-Academic Team earlier in the week.

Cattran is among 531 Division I student-athletes who earned the honor. To qualify for the All-Academic Team, a student-athlete must have compiled at least a 3.25 GPA and meet the NCAA automatic, provisional or regional standard for their event(s).
