POHLMAN, KREMER HEAD TO NCAA TRACK & FIELD REGIONALS
May 25, 2006 DAYTON, Ohio - Two University of Dayton track and field athletes compete Friday at the NCAA Mideast Regional in Knoxville, TN at Tom Black Track at LaPorte Stadium. Kelly Pohlman qualified in the Shot Put and Amy Kremer qualified in the High Jump. Senior Kelly Pohlman, a six-time Atlantic 10 shot put champion, tossed a qualifying standard in the shot put three times during the 2006 season. The shot put is at 3:00 p.m. Friday. Her shot put distance of 14.45 meters at the A-10 Outdoor Championships won her third-straight outdoor title (she has three indoor shot put titles as well), but it was only her fourth-longest toss of the season. Her season-best was the 14.67 m (48'1.75") at the Shamrock Invitational. Amy Kremer, a freshman, qualified for the regionals by winning the A-10 outdoor high jump, setting the school record by clearing 1.70 meters (5'7"). Kremer also set the indoor high jump mark this year, with a career-best 5'7.75" (1.72m) at Cedarville. The high jump takes place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday. "We are very excited to have two exceptional athletes competing in the NCAA Regional Meet this weekend," head coach Kandice Erwin said. "These young women have led our team all year, helping us to our best-ever Atlantic 10 finish. We're certainly happy for them to still be competing." Should Pohlman or Kremer advance, the 25th Annual Women's NCAA Division I Outdoor Track And Field Championships take place June 7-10 at A.G. Spanos Sports Complex in Sacramento, California. |
