DAYTON, OHIO - With the Atlantic 10 Outdoor Track & Field Championship on the horizon, UD Track & Field head coach Kandice Erwin announced the team awards, which were handed out at the annual team banquet. Kelly Pohlman, UD's record holder in the weight throw and hammer throw, picked up three awards.

Pohlman, a senior from Versailles, OH, was named the recipient of the Charles R Kendall Memorial Awards of Excellence and Academic Effort, the Fighting Flyer Award, and the White Allen Chevrolet MVP for Field Events.

Pohlman owns a 3.8 GPA with a major in psychology and a minor in biology and will graduate in May before beginning work on her master's degree at Ohio State, where she will be entering the Occupational Therapy Program. The Fighting Flyer Award is voted on by the team and is given to the person whom they feel best represents the program in terms of work ethic and sportsmanship.

As White Allen MVP for Field Events, Pohlman was honored for her consistent finishes among the leaders in throws at each meet. This indoor season, she won the A-10 weight throw and shot put and was voted the Most Outstanding Field Event Athlete of the Year. In outdoor, she is currently ranked first in the shot put and third in the discus. Pohlman has set multiple career bests and has posted Regional Qualifying distances in the shot put on three separate occasions. At one point in the season she was ranked in the top 10 in the country in the shot put, where she will be competing in at University of Tennessee on May 26-27, hoping to advance the NCAA National Track & Field Championships in June.

Co-Rookie of the Year honors went to Amy Kremer, a freshman from Minster, OH. Kremer set a school record in the indoor high jump, won the event at the Atlantic 10 Indoor Track & Field Championship, and is currently ranked in the top 10 in the Atlantic 10 in three outdoor events: the high jump, the heptathlon and the 400m hurdles.

With 14 newcomers on the roster, Erwin elected to award two Rookie of the Year awards. The other recipient was Andrea Cornell, a freshman from Ashland, OH. Cornell placed the highest of any UD runner in the track events the A-10 Indoor Track & Field Championships, placing fourth in the 100m hurdles. She ran a career best at the All-Ohio Championship in the 100m hurdles, which was the second-best mark in the Atlantic 10.

Rounding out the awards was the White Allen Chevrolet MVP for Running Events, which went to senior Stacia Harold. The Urbana, IL native had the best year of her career, finishing sixth at the A-10 Indoor Championships in the 100m with a career best time of 7.26. She is currently ranked eighth in the 100m and ninth in the 200m for the outdoor season. She runs the anchor leg on the 4 x 100m relay, which is currently ranked fourth in the conference. This season, she has also contributed to the field events, establishing a new outdoor school record in the long jump with a leap of 17' 8 ¼" (third-best in the Atlantic 10)

UD is at the Atlantic 10 Outdoor Track & Field this Saturday and Sunday at Charlotte, NC.
