TRACK AND FIELD SPOTLIGHT -- UD'S THROWERS
Feb. 25, 2008
What are the biggest misconceptions about your event? We don't eat all the time! Everyone thinks we don't run ... oh wait, we don't. It's not the size of the thrower; it's the sling in the ring. IT'S HARD WORK! If you were to compete in any other event, other than throwing, what would it be and why? What is one thing you want the readers of www.DaytonFlyers.com to know about your sport? What is a typical track meet like for a thrower? How'd you get into throwing? What made you try it? And more importantly, why do you do it? Because it's awesome, end of story. But also ... I throw because it is only me in the ring competing against the tape measure. When I step out of the ring though, I have my whole team there supporting me. I love to work hard and see the benefits of it all when I let go of that perfect throw. Most importantly though, I absolutely love my team and have no idea what I would do without them. - Sarah Allen I throw because I honestly enjoy it. It never feels like a job and continues to be more enjoying as I learn more and more. It doesn't hurt that I'm good at it and continue to improve. I meet many new people and have met many new and wonderful people through throwing which makes it even better. I LOVE IT! - Mallory Barnes I can't live without it...it's a stress reliever...and I have a love of the sport. - Emily Overmyer Because I love it. The feeling I get when it leaves my hand is just unexplainable. Also, the relationships that I gain are a huge part of it too. Throwing is throwing, and that's why I do it ... because I love it. - Molly McCarty I do it because of the feeling I get when I throw it really far and realize that is it because of the work I have put in. Also because I could never live without the girls on the team, they are my second family. - Johnna Zaccari |
