DAYTON, Ohio - Freshman Mallory Barnes was named the Atlantic 10 Track & Field Rookie of the Week for shattering a school record in the weight throw at the DePauw Invite on Feb. 1 with a distance of 56-10, besting the previous mark of 56-08.75. Barnes throw was the third-longest in the conference this year.

She also helped lead her team to a first place victory at the meet finishing first in the weight throw and fourth in the shot put.

With her latest throw she trumped her previous best of the season set at the Findlay Classic (54-08.75) on Jan. 26.

Next up for the Flyers is the Atlantic 10 Indoor Championships. The team will head to Kingston, Rhode Island on Feb. 16 for an all day meet. Results can be found preceding the day-long event at www.DaytonFlyers.com
