POHLMAN, KREMER WRAP UP TRACK SEASON AT REGIONALS
May 27, 2006
KNOXVILLE, TN - University of Dayton track and field performers Kelly Pohlman and Amy Kremer completed their seasons at the NCAA Division I Women's Track & Field Mideast Regional Friday. Pohlman finished 21st in the shot put with a toss of 46-05.5 (14.16m). Kremer, the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Year and A-10 high jump champion, was one of 12 jumpers to bow out with the bar at 1.71m. Pohlman's illustrious UD career came to an end Friday, as the senior finishes her eligibility with two school records (the hammer throw and weight throw). She is a six-time Atlantic 10 Champion in the shot put (three indoor titles, three outdoor). The Atlantic 10 Field Performer of the Year was also named to the Atlantic 10 All-Academic team this season, as she has been every time she was eligible for the award. "It's sad to see Kelly's career come to an end," head coach Kandice Erwin said. "She's a tremendous person and I can not thank her enough for what she's done for our program." Pohlman and Kremer helped UD finish fourth in the Atlantic 10 Outdoor Championship, the highest ever finish, in indoor or outdoor, for the program. "I'm glad that Amy could compete at the Regional as a freshman," Erwin added. "She's a big part of our program's future and I know that she'll learn and grow from this experience." |
