TRACK & FIELD TEAM TAKES HOME 7 MEDALS

Louisivlle, KY - The track and field team took home seven medals Saturday at the Louisville Cardinal Invitational. Junior Kelly Pohlman set two outdoor personal records while taking home two medals and sophomore Candace McKinley took home two medals as well. In the non-team scoring meet, the top place finish for the Flyers was Pohlman's gold medal finish in the shot put with a distance of 46-04.25, setting a new personal outdoor season record. In the discus throw, Pohlman took the bronze medal with a throw of 141-11, also a new outdoor personal best. Pohlman also finished in eighth place in the hammer throw with a distance of 134-08. McKinley took home two silver medals on the day, one in the long jump and one in the javelin throw. In the long jump, she scored a distance of 16-10.75. She threw for a distance of 121-01 in the javelin throw, setting a new personal best in this event. Junior Sarah Kessler won a silver medal in the 1500m run with a time of 4:59.57. Freshman Emily Deet competed in the 1500m run and finished in fourth place, setting a new outdoor personal best with a time of 5:08.70. Sophomore Emily Haas also competed in the race and finished and fifth with a time of 5:21.29. Freshman Megan Sweeney won the silver medal with a height of 5-00.00. Her teammate junior Stacia Harold finished in fourth place with a height of 4-10.00. She also competed in the 100m dash where she finished seventh with a time of 12.77 Freshman Connie Fleming took home a bronze medal in the javelin throw with a distance of 83-08. Fleming finished sixth in the discus throw with a distance of 133-10, setting a new personal best in this event. She competed in the shot put with a throw of 34-09.75, putting her in seventh place. In the hammer throw, she scored a 119-05, putting her in tenth place. The Flyers will return to action Saturday in the Stan Lyons Invitational in Indianapolis, IN. |
