DAYTON, Ohio - The University of Dayton track and field team started the outdoor season on a high note at the Hurricane Invitational in Coral Gables, Florida on Saturday. The Flyers posted 19 Top 20 finishes including four Top 10 finishes in the team's first outdoor meet of the year.

In the sprint events, freshman Lauren McCormick led the Flyers in both the 100 meter dash and 200 meter dash. McCormick posted a 12.40 time in the 100 meter and a 25.64 time in the 200 meter.

Stacy Chew (58.98) and Liz Forster (59.86) came in first and second for UD in the 400 meter dash, while teammate Kate Tejkl led Dayton in the 800 meter run with her 2:26.24 time.

In the 100 meter hurdles, Andrea Cornell finished in 15.24, while fellow teammates Micailah Brock (15.54) and Emma Steinmetz (15.74) followed. Steinmetz was the only Dayton participant in the 400 meter hurdles. She crossed the finish line at 1:08.12.

Dayton's distance team posted impressive finishes throughout the day. Jacqueline Jaworek placed ninth and Dianne Striebel followed in tenth in the 3000 meter run. They recorded times 11:01.42 and 11:02.17 respectively. Sydney Hubbard (11:09.53), Emily Deet (11:13.58), Emily Haas (11:21.62) weren't too far behind with their Top 20 finishes.

Alex Miles took 14th place (5:00.57) in the 1500 meter run. Bridget Conlon took 15th (5:00.88) and Angela Conlon rounded out the Top 20 in the event with her time of 5:04.09.

In relay action, Dayton posted a 48.66 time in the 4x100 meter relay and a 4:02.22 time in the 4x400 meter relay.

Other Flyers to finish well include freshman Molly McCarty. McCarty threw distances of 38-04.75 in the shot put, 108-05 in the discus, and 119-05 in the hammer throw placing in the Top 20 in each event. Andrea Funk (35-06.50) and Tara Hentgen (34-02.00) placed 16th and 17th respectively in the triple jump, while McKinley (16-03.25) and Funk (16-01.50) lead the Flyers in the long jump event.

McKinley also posted an impressive sixth place finish in the javelin throw for a 122-11 distance.

Next up for Dayton is the Oliver Nikoloff Invitational on April 7. The Flyers will travel to Cincinnati to compete in the team's second outdoor meet of the year.
